In my previous post, I receive comments regarding poverty and environmental problems. Some readers asked, what we can do to help the poor people? How to save the environment? Although this blog is not really about environment and poverty, I think there is a need to respond to such problems. These two issues are very complicated, and I will talk about them, in two separate posts. For now, I have a little tidbit for you.
Take a very deep breath, relax, and watch this video:
If we keep the earth to 100 people, you’d get the following;
25 punk assed africans dealing drugs
25 asians (chinese) opening foodstall
25 indian con-mens (which we will beat before killing the snake)
25 whites thinking they can change the world and all that great
and another 1 million illegal immigrants !!!!
Good to see you are having this debate, and great to see you are using the Miniature Earth video to stimulate it!
We are glad to know the video has provoked another person into into making a positive action, and to know that you are one o the millions of viewrs of the video that are a lot less cynical than Dicklee who posted the first comment!
I can tell you that the various versions of the video on youtube, and the 83,000 blogs that are using it, have resulting in over 2million visits to the Miniature Earth website in the last year.
You might guess, we also get a lot of feedback. A comment we have heard a lot goes something like, “I was really moved by the video, it really made me want to do something to make a difference, but where do I start?” Doing something, even if you want to, if easier said than done, especially if you want to make sure that the help you give will be used effectively.
I recently partnered with the founder of miniature earth and we are in the process of evolving the project into a social enterprise that will make it easy to make a very positive impact. We plan to sell products, starting with t-shirts carrying messages from the video. They will spread the message, raise awareness, and generate income to fund NGO run projects in the Least Developed Nations (defined by the United nations), and poor communities of Brazil where this project was born.
We will be retailing the products from an on-line shop, and wholesaling them to retailers. Additionally we will licence the brand to carefully selected retailers who want to develop co-branded collections.
If you would like to stay updated you can visit the miniature earth site and see the blog. You can also email me to be added to the newsletter mailing list (paul@miniature-earth.com). And, we would love to hear from retailers interested in becoming partners.

Hi. Waaaa it is an honour to have you here. welcome ^_^
I think Miniature Earth is a good way to show people the big picture of our world, that many people are poor. If we say hundred thousand millions of people are poor, people will think of it as merely “statistic”, but if we simplify the world to 100 people, viewers can relate to it much better to get the feel of how severe the problem is.
I think it is really a good idea to combine profit with charity. Jackie Chan does that too. He opens his Jackie Chan cafe to promote Chinese culture and do charity. He employs people with disability to work at the cafe and part of the profit will go to his charity. That is really great. Maybe you can sell Miniature Earth stuffs at jackie Chan’s clothing line or cafe
I hope your charity mission will grow larger and become successful. All the best to you.
